Happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers — and a special prayer for Pope Leo on the first anniversary of his election. Fr. Álvaro shares the joyful answered prayer of our parish car raffle, where one of our families won the Ford Bronco, and invites everyone to the diocesan Faith + Freedom celebration on June 13 at the Clarke County Fairgrounds.

Mother's Day, Pope Leo, and an Answered Prayer

Día de la Madre, el papa León, y una oración escuchada

Happy Easter! Happy sixth Sunday of Easter!

Happy Easter! Happy sixth Sunday of Easter! Happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers. We are very thankful to them, who were actually our first heart, before our own was formed in their womb. We honor all of them with our prayers, but we remember our deceased moms especially. I encourage each person to pray a rosary for your mother and make sure you explicitly show your appreciation with a special gesture, card, or word.

We also pray for Pope Leo, as he just celebrated the first anniversary of his election on May 8. Most people agree that his words and actions show his love for Christ and the Church and his determination to strengthen our faith.

An answered prayer

You may have heard that the car raffle was a success for our parish. One family won a Ford Bronco (see the picture), and another person won a $5,000 prize. I am very happy and grateful to the Lord because in His Divine Providence He provided our parish community with this simple joy. I was happier for the winners than for myself because it was exactly what I had prayed for. I asked the Lord to let one of my parishioners win the car. It was an answered prayer!

Mark your calendars: Faith + Freedom

We are all invited to a free diocesan event. Bishop Burbidge invites you to celebrate 250 years of Faith + Freedom in our nation.
