Behold the Angels Among Us

Dear Parishioners,

We are celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Angels once again this weekend. Many of you have already contributed to the preparations and supported the event by sponsoring it or making donations. As you may know, we are asking each household to donate $50 to the parish in return for a pin featuring our newest parish logo (see attached picture). We will also give our benefactors a small Christmas ornament from the celebration of the 50th anniversary of our parish back in 2009, as long as we have them in stock. I apologize in advance if they have all been given away by the time you read this, as they have been in high demand.

The parish festival provides an opportunity to strengthen our Marian devotion by praying the Holy Rosary together and fostering a sense of community. It is also an opportunity to make a lasting difference to our campus by funding a small but meaningful improvement. This year, I have identified one special item: an artistic triptych to enhance our Adoration Chapel by placing it behind the monstrance. The blue color reminds us of the presence of Mary and the angels surrounding our Eucharistic Lord. We can better imagine the many invisible angels who are also present in the Adoration Chapel, adoring Jesus Christ with us.

I also wanted to provide an update on the new roof for the church. The diocese has granted approval, the design is complete, and installation is moving forward. We have a construction meeting scheduled for August 3 to finalize all the details and review the timeline. Along with this good news, we are also going to install gutters and new landscaping in the Adoration Chapel as soon as we finish engraving the remaining stones and pavers.

Este fin de semana celebramos de nuevo la fiesta de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles. Muchos de vosotros ya habéis colaborado en los preparativos y habéis apoyado el evento, ya sea apadrinándolo o realizando donativos. Como sabréis, pedimos a cada familia que done 50 dólares a la parroquia a cambio de un pin con nuestro nuevo logotipo parroquial (véase la imagen adjunta). También entregaremos a nuestros benefactores un pequeño adorno navideño de la celebración del 50.º aniversario de nuestra parroquia en 2009, siempre que nos queden existencias. Pido disculpas de antemano si ya se han agotado cuando leáis esto, ya que han tenido una gran demanda.

La fiesta parroquial nos brinda la oportunidad de fortalecer nuestra devoción mariana rezando juntos el Santo Rosario y fomentando el espíritu de comunidad. También es una ocasión para marcar una diferencia duradera en nuestro recinto, financiando una pequeña pero significativa mejora. Este año he seleccionado un elemento especial: un tríptico artístico para embellecer nuestra Capilla de la Adoración, colocándolo detrás de la custodia. El color azul nos recuerda la presencia de María y de los ángeles que rodean a nuestro Señor Eucarístico. Así podemos imaginar mejor a los numerosos ángeles invisibles que también están presentes en la Capilla de la Adoración, adorando a Jesucristo junto a nosotros.

También quería informarles sobre las últimas novedades respecto al nuevo tejado de la iglesia. La diócesis ha dado su aprobación, el diseño está terminado y la instalación sigue adelante. Tenemos programada una reunión sobre las obras para el 3 de agosto con el fin de ultimar todos los detalles y revisar el calendario. Además de esta buena noticia, también vamos a instalar canalones y nuevos elementos de jardinería en la Capilla de la Adoración tan pronto como terminemos de grabar las piedras y los adoquines restantes.
