Consecrating Our Nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Consagración de Nuestra Nación al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús

May 30, 2026 · By Our Lady of Angels Parish Office · 3 min read

From June 3 through 11, our parish joins Catholics across the country in a Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, leading to June 11, when the bishops of the United States consecrate our nation to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. You are warmly invited to take part.

To consecrate something is to set it apart and entrust it entirely to God. On June 11, 2026—as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary—the U.S. Catholic bishops will offer our whole country to the love of Christ’s Sacred Heart, asking for the healing of old wounds, the repair of injustice, the reconciliation of broken relationships, and peace in our families and communities. Parishes and individuals everywhere are encouraged to join in this historic moment.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart is one of the Church’s most tender and enduring. It contemplates the love of Jesus, poured out from his pierced side, that longs for every person to come home to him. This year that devotion takes on a national dimension as we entrust the United States to his care.

A Novena, June 3–11

A novena is nine days of prayer. This one draws each day’s theme from the Litany of the Sacred Heart and pairs it with the wisdom of the saints and the recent teaching of Pope Francis (Dilexit Nos, “He Loved Us”) and Pope Leo XIV (Dilexi Te, “I Have Loved You”). Each day offers a short prayer and a simple way to live out that day’s theme.

  • June 3 · Heart of Jesus, aflame with love for us
  • June 4 · Heart of Jesus, source of justice and love
  • June 5 · Heart of Jesus, worthy of all praise
  • June 6 · Heart of Jesus, patient and full of mercy
  • June 7 · Heart of Jesus, fountain of life and holiness
  • June 8 · Heart of Jesus, atonement for our sins
  • June 9 · Heart of Jesus, source of all consolation
  • June 10 · Jesus, gentle and humble of heart
  • June 11 · Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

How to Take Part

Pray the novena each day from June 3 to 11—on your own, as a family, or with our parish community. Then on June 11, join in praying the Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart. The national consecration takes place that day in Orlando, at the bishops’ assembly, and will be live-streamed on the U.S. bishops’ website.

Every prayer is available to pray or print, free, directly from the U.S. bishops:

We hope you will join us in opening our hearts, our families, and our nation to the love of Christ.
